Bike I ride: Currenly in the market for a Freeride/all mountain machine built up to take some downhill abuse..
Favorite Trails: Skidaw, Kentmere valley, whinlatter forest, Fort william, Gisburn forest, Ae Forest, Glentress, Innerleithen, Cwm carn, Gethin, Hamsterley, Lagan wolftrax, Nant yr Arin, Afan Argoed.
About Me: I'm 19 from lancashire and work as a bike mechanic. I enjoy a bit of downhill racing now and again but can usually only afford to hammer round the lake disctrict on my hardtail. I'm also a bit of a petrol head and love motorsport and classic/sports cars. I currently own a 69' morris mini which has just about enough room inside to carry 2 downhill bikes (in bits) and a weekends worth of camping gear and tools, helmets etc.. Pretty practical i'd say! Other than that, i try to go surfing as much as possible which can be difficult when the local spot is 2 hours drive away.

I'm not interested in making any more power, i want a period 998cc engine from the 60's to make the car original. The 80's metro A+ engine just doesn't belong in that car. Ideally i'd have a 1071 engine from the early Cooper S but they're very rare now so i doubt i'd pick one up cheap.

She has a 1275 engine in her currently, I'm hoping to put the original 1000 engine back in soon then upgrade to twin SU carbs like the early coopers.. And maybe a close ratio straight cut box next year :p

But i can imagine its a pretty expensive hobby :p I'll upload a picture of the front end for now.. need to get a few more up to date pics of her

Ahhh great stuff, so they're standard roof bars? Mines just a morris 1000 with a few mods here and there to give her a bit more poke :P I've just finished re-building her so now i'm just looking at ways of carrying the bikes around. Your roof rack idea looks like the way to go :) Is yours a Cooper S?

Indeed, I changed to some high rollers I had in the garage and that shed some, but for the Alps tihs year I'll probably stick the stock michelins back on with a tubeless rim strip.

As for changing the bars and so on, definatly an option, trouble is I would want to be a tart and get burgtec bars and integrated stem / crown cos I'm a tart!

Cheers for that.

Mine is a 2008 stock build, all the parts are excellent, just the weight of the thing is a bit annoying. Wheels would be one of the first things that I would think about changing... Just 14st of me doesn't get on too well with rear wheels!
